Feel like i am resurrecting this thread from the dead given its last post date?

Bit of a shame given we are meant to have better weather in the Bay.

Group from my work are planning on going up to Puketitiri this Sunday leaving the Z petrol station Taradale at 9am, from Puketitiri we will likely end up at the Puketapu pub for a early lunch/late morning tea...

See you there...

That sounds like a great idea.....with summer approaching I really wish had not sold my bike!!!! :bash:
Hope you get a good crowd - should do if the weather holds up:yes:

So tempted
Hopefully get to meet you all at the pub. I will ride in the opposite direction so I don't hold anyone up :scooter:

Usually do, we had 10-15 bikes so far...most of the riders are over 45 years old so its reasonable speed rather than people doing 180+ plus

Rubbish...you need to ride MORE not less. <_<

I'm thinking of joining in this one. Was hoping to have the gixxer out of the shop after a long-delayed service. But alas, mechanic called away on family grounds. Not riding on a bald rear and overdue topend service.

Might have to use YT's Kwaka if the day is to be mint.

Which shop are you using that its taking so long to service?

MSTRS

Craig. He isn't taking long ... I've delayed the service ... he was to do it today. But sadly he's been called away for a few days. So I won't get the work done before the w/e.

FAWC, some of uz fellas still around, haven't all written yourselves off on Middle Rd then! Back with a bike, red again, missing 2 cyl sorry & leaves a trail of pasta behind but will try to keep up if it actually starts & nothing else falls off. Actually no I won't cuz I value my life but then what's life without WOT occassionally?

Hope to see you out there occassionally.

Well thanks to the aussies this weekend ride might be a wash out with the incoming weather front, as i am not the main organizer i will facebook him on Saturday evening and ask him if still a go ahead for Sunday morning and post here Saturday evening, unfortunately due to work it will be after 10pm Saturday before i can post if the ride is going ahead Sunday morn..so check in after then or first thing.

zippy
13th October 2012, 18:33
Well i think its safe to say tomorrow will wash out, i know its reasonably clear at the moment of writing due to the winds, but with morning showers due in i would say tomorrow's ride is cancelled...if however i get up in the morning and its clear as gladwrap i will repost early...

Well this is the ride attempt part two..

For all those interested and who are off on Friday a few of us are going to do a ride…the weather is showing fine with a few clouds…not to hot…not to cold...

Starting point is Stortford Lodge BP at 2pm (yes there is a sleep in), before going onto the expressway towards Bayview - the plan is ride up to Lake Tutira so it will make a good background for any photos... then onto the Taupo road - Glengarry Road towards the Puketapu pub around 1630 ish? for a meal/beer/several beers.

This will be a reasonable paced ride…aside from some straight bits to play on it will be sub 120kph so is not to rush the scenery and to make is a enjoyable ride rather than a race :-D

Do you mean Tutira to SH5 or return to Bayview turnoff and up SH5? Cos the first way has LOTS of gravel...

I was wondering if any of the back roads had been sealed the entire way through like waikoau road onto waipunga road to SH5 etc...i was going to take the car around tomorrow for a gander as google maps show for the most of it sealed but does not allow me to look at the entire road...thought if its gravel its likely the ride will back track through bayview....one of the lads has a new bike on Thursday so Lake Tutira will be a good backdrop for any photos plus the glengarry is sealed now and fun to play on.

Still gravel...so it will be a quick backtrack...no issue the roads are really good around there with twisty s and all.

All things being equal, I'll be keen. But don't see the point in going to Hastings only to come back.
So what route/time you taking past Napier?

zippy
17th October 2012, 23:11
I would imagine we would leave around 1420-1430ish, we could pick you up say at the Z petrol station, Lee road in Taradale some time after that nearer 3pm? Then we can cruize Gloucester street/kennedy road back to the express way...thought let me know on the Friday morning for sure so we do not detour for no reason.

However that is if i have my bike back...

Bloody Bay motorcycles = Useless......booked a service and new front tyre 3 weeks ago via email, turn up at the new premise yesterday (yeah thanks for telling us you moved cities eh) to find the mechanics knew nothing about it. Bloody better have it sorted today, they reckon the tyre will be there today and they will have it fitted.... First time and last time i take my bike there....took it there as the suzuki dealer for my service stamp in my book...should have stuck erricson's or barry's.

And mine is done...new wof...champing at the bit.

Fuck going into Taradale (and I don't like Z anyway). How about the Mobil on Taradale Rd? Beside Placemakers.

No you have been lead down the garden path again. Yes the boss blue his stack accusing the sport bike riders of the high number of mishaps on a ride. But it appears that it turned out that it was the guys/gals and learner riders that were involved in the indiscretions. One particular instance was that a learner rode into the rear of a stationary Harley.
The format of the ride has now been changed and hopefully things will sort it self out.
Be carefull out there where riding in groups. Its hazardous.

I know I am replying to an old post but I wanted to know if things have changed with the Classic Club? I was planning to go along on the ride next weekend. I'm on a sports bike (not fast) and also still on my learner's.

Assuming this weekends ride is not a 'classic bike only' which i cannot get onto there facebook group at work to check then they now split it into three groups on general rides.

But Yes you can go along even if your on a 250 sports bike.

Group A - Fast sports bikes who generally ride like lunatics was my first experience in May when i rode with them last - they cannot keep in formation and have a dangerous habit of formation cutting, riders feel they have to be 'one bike ahead of themselves' so end up overtaking you and then cut into formation gap forcing you to swap positions and everyone else behind you......that and on the day i saw a aprilia RSV rider race up the right hand side of the group doing around the 150kph mark right before realising a sharp right hand corner was ahead with a posted 35kph sign was coming up, hit the anchors and force himself back into the group - Speed and risk i take myself but not at the expense of risking other bikes and lives.

Group B - Steady paced riders around 100km but no quicker

Group C- under 100km generally older classic bikes.

So given your on a 250 i would stick with group B they usually arrive at the destination after group A anyhow.

Fuck I REALLY hate group A types. Reason why I normally avoid group rides as I can not justify 12 years in jail for doing Darwins job.

Personally i love formation riding but it requires a road captian to manage it, i was riding in a group of around 15 once in the UK the road captian rode behind however to keep a eye on the group for any one that has breakdowns/gets caught up in traffic etc...but once there was a new prat to the club who liked being a show off, the road captian over took the group and indicated to the lead bike to bring the group to a halt..when we stopped he went over to said prat and told him to fuck off and not to come back to the club again..

The only thing needed is riders that know their dick size.

Anyhow a few of us are meeting this Sunday (Mothers Day) at the BAYVIEW BP and leaving at 1000hrs/10am to go to the 287 cafe Wairoa for a quick bite to eat.

Bit of a last jaunt before the winter sets in?

Anyone interested can tag along...we are a mixed group of riders and sometimes female riders if they show :shifty:

I have half moved, most weekends in the bay and work in Wellington. Bike in the bay.
KB is not as active as it was a couple of years ago. An intro to some riders would be appreciated - perhaps nearer end of year.

Could be me, I rode my Dads GSXR750 in corona blue/gold occasionally. Had a ninja 250 at first then for some reason people loaned me bikes for years...

I'm planning on heading to the Pan Pac trail ride with a few of the guys on the 21st if it goes ahead. Been postponed so far due to rain. Last time out it was a sweet ride. Best trail ride I've done yet. Some good AAA sections.

Yea was on the ninja, I remember ya following me back to town along middle road one evening ride. I've done the pan pac a couple times, took the missus and my boy so missed out on a couple of the loops down the back. Been waiting for the weather to get reliable so i can do it again.
