Yes! Something very appealing about getting into some back country. The older Tigers especially would be well suited. The newer ones seem to be more road oriented. Must research their 'moderate' off road ability.
My main thoughts are that a Tiger might be a bit heavy off formed roads. Might be better off with a lighter trail bike and accept that it won't be ideal for the road. I suspect, deep down, that I'm heading towards a break from road riding while our kids a young. Who knows? We'll see.

Unfortunately im working both weekend afternoons, so i wont be able to come along to those. Do you have friday night rides still? I remember hearing about that a while back.

Hopefully sometime i'll be able to put names to faces :)

Yep, as soon as daylight savings comes round again it will be all on. went well last year. Hopefully there will be a few fine days in the winter, not looking real flash right now.

Have taken her for a few trips to different shops hoping she might settle for sommit to fit but ,,,, She wants an America ! But of course thats irrelavant hehe, Speedmaster has much better brakes (which it will need two up )
Trouble is we would have to mod the hell out of it for her to reach ie bars forward controlls etc which i might not like lol !
Keen to go down to thunderbikes and look at a S/Master EFI they have there at a reasonable price. But losing the bloody licence has held me up here ! What ever it is we decide on, the 955 is going as deposit so need to ride there for appraisal !
Wanted to surprize her for her B/day on the 10th but alas, she will have to make do with SFA lol

Scrambler would be much better in mud, (with the right tyres) the Tigers are fine on gravel roads and dry stuff but very top heavy if you get on to soft or slippery stuff - not a trail bike, more a very versitile touring bike. (the pre 07 ones that is)

ok after recieving a few messages from some of you asking where we have gone, we should be back... most of the chaos should be over now.

Wedding has been basically fleshed out, latest stage in the house renovations has been completed as of this weekend, school holidays are long gone, insurance sorted the GSX1400 I flattened and I should finally have a weekend or two free soon.

Still have to paint, graphic and sell the ZXR, tidy up the second CBR, tag up 2 D1 Drift cars and a Targa Car for Quest Industries and ride... lots.

I'm really happy with the map Kerry did for my bike as well! Would I be correct in thinking you now have the TuneBoy key for your bike? If so, I have the USB cable you can borrow if you have something you want to check out or alter.
It'd be good to hear some feedback on your new Scott oiler when you clock up a few k's. It's something I may consider when mine goes for its 20,000k service to Kerry.

Gidday. Yes, I have the key and thanks for that, that could be interesting. The new tune has made a very noticeable difference, with a big increase in power starting at about 4500 rpm. It's a really smooth delivery too and continues right up the range. It sounds better as well, which is impressive given that the standard pipe is all about reducing noise due to emission and noise controls. Kerry could get a lot more out of it, but I'd need to invest in a perf pipe.

The Scottoiler. So far, it's doing a very good job, the chain just looks and feels in really good condition. I'd go for one, it will pay for itself quite quickly and figures of up to 2 - 4 times normal chain life are achievable. It's quite a sexy looking wee thing as well

Kerry's given me the usual CD record of the work, I'll post it up when I figure out an online gallery!

Roughly $300 fitted Sarge. You could do it yourself, but you do need to connect a vacumn source from your fuel system which may be fiddly.

going to have to have a closer inspection of yours. Meanie was talking about them the other day and I am so so about it to be honest. Be interesting to see how much of a extended life the chain gets and how well they work. I just got 18,000 out of my last one with very little maintance (read: I am a lazy arse who never oils his chain)

I'd probably go for the dual feed if I get one. The only thing that puts me off the oiler is the placement of the RMV. I don't really want a cylinder strapped to the side of my bike with electrical ties. Looks untidy!

Yeah i've always been a bit to and fro over them too, chain wax ai'nt that hard to put on every few hundred k's but I must admit it would be nice to not have to worry about it at all.
The chain and sprocket on the Ace are still in mint condition and they have done approx 20,000k so far and I have no reason to think the new owner won't get a fair amount of use out of them too.
I was told using a quality chain well maintained 30,000k should be easy enough and that I would say is bearing out on my old bike.
Paid a fair amount for the chain on that bike but it looks too be worth it too.

Feel free to inspect anytime. I was a bit iffy myself but curiosity got the better of me. I got 27K out of my last chain and sproket set and considered that quite good. So it the SO can give me 50K plus, it's gotta be a win win. (And besides, with the new tune, my chain will need all the help it can get :) )

I'd probably go for the dual feed if I get one. The only thing that puts me off the oiler is the placement of the RMV. I don't really want a cylinder strapped to the side of my bike with electrical ties. Looks untidy!

I know what you mean. I had the same concern but it actually looks quite cool now. Most of the plumbing can be concealed.

Yep, quality is the key alright Sarge. I too paid a fair bit for my last chain and sprockets which is why I want to experiment with the SO. I think I'm going to be nicely pleased with the results if the condition of the chain so far is anything to go by :niceone:

Yes we had many small power cuts-the kids and I enjoy sitting around the fire cooking sausages and marshmallows for afters.
Arrived home on Wednesday to a big tree across the driveway:shit:-had to get out the chainsaw and have a clear up before I could even get home!! Lost about 3 all up. Aokautere school was closed-very exciting for the little ones.

M
The kids love that sort of adventure lol me i'm still wrapping bloody leads up grrrr lol

lost 7 large trees at te golf course and then a further 2 because I was holding a chainsaw and they looked at me funny. Spent all week hiding from rain then swinging a chainsaw. Pleased its friday
Hope you have a good fire and an even better wood shed with that job of yours !

sounds frighteningly like my week:lol:,except i've got to start on the in-laws trees now:beer:another weather warning for weekend too:mad:
Yep could be looking at same sort of rain but think the winds will be less destructive ! No anticyclones to turn it into tornado speeds !

don't intend to stay dry tonight:drinknsin
I need a drink tank to hide in for a few days lol

Yep my power was out wed, came back on about 3am thursday, lost a heap of big gums, 3 across the boundary into the neighbors place, so had to buy a big chainsaw today to cut them up. guess what I'm doing this weekend, got to get the fence back up to keep the baa lambs in :)
Sounds more constructive than a mate of mine he waited till just before the power to come back on b4 buying a new generator (his fish tank was cold as)
Gene was still sittin in his car yesterday lol !

The trees missed my fences so Baa's and mooie's all safe...so far. It is soooo wet that it won't take much to drop some more though:(
Gonna be plenty more wet stuff lol 2 more months worth then the gods will smile again !

well BB is ready to rock tomorrow & now I have finally gotten rid of horrible chest infections I soooooooooooo can not wait to get on & ride ..

Party in welly good opportunity for a few ks .. & with the weather looks like it will be the long way there

Yeah, to say I was enjoying myself is an understatement! By the time we got out to CP I was starting to work the bike out. The motor makes it pretty easy to ride and it handles pretty well. I was a lot more cautious on those back roads from Pahiatua through Alfredton etc. Pretty greasy in places there. The tyres must have got a scrubbing as they felt a lot better in the wet on the way back.

Need to try and work out the fuel gauge & range a bit better - I only put 12.8L in at Pahiatua, would have made it home easy without stopping. Might try and find an owner's manual online...

Yeah he aint worried bout the refund really, was more the fact of the day off work, Nearly lose it twice in the weather on a borrowed bike cause he was afraid if he rang and cancelled he would have lost the booking fee ! well its been a month since I have been on BB & with skels yay i am alive party in welly perfect opportunity to go for a ride.

Initially I was going to head down via Masterton with yod & co, however Carmen was itching for a ride as well sooooooo the weather was looking good down SH 1 so quick text to yod, that he did not get .. (sorry bout that mate)

After calling in to see pauly get BB tire pressures checked off we headed roads in great condition & lack of traffic initially made for an awesome cruise.

I had the rain cover on the venturer pack & could see in the shadows & under my arm that it was getting a bit of a billowing going .. but I knew it was tied on .. however by the time we got to Manakau it was almost off, simple, reach behind grabbed it with my hand & ride one handed to Otaki where i needed to gas up anyhow  ..

so after a hot drink Carmen headed back up the line & I carried on my way, hit drizzle around pram & heavy rain over greys road, but had ridden in heavy rain before so no drama's

Arrived at Drew's rather wet & while I peeled off the top wet layer he brought BB in & dried her off for me (on ya mate  ) Flame & skel's arrived shortly after & we spent some time admiring the shed full of bikes .. esp the rebuilt Mille

Once Deano arrived did not take take Drew long to have the baffle removed from BB & see wot she sounded like .. hmm nope sounds 10 times better with her in

Meet the Canadian doing the NZ tour .. (awesome Dan) who will prob call back to the Manawatu to experience those great roads we have ..so hopefully he will catch up with Dogs in the next day or so when he crosses Cook Straight.

ride home today wee bit of a spit when I left this morn but came across the haywards & fine weather all the way home, after enjoying a lunch with Nasty/Grub & a cuppa (pit-stop) with Sinfull & H

Thanks guys felt damn great to be out & about rock on summer

When it comes to chainsaws size does matter. Mines only little but it does the job :p

What it lacks in size it compensates for with balance - only an 18 incher :scooter:

Don't you hate it when you get phrases in the wrong place

Yes, it took a bit of skill to get through that big job alright, no painful bends :woohoo:

It is always good to have a neighbouur with a big one:gob:...CHAINSAW...to get you out of the poo. I have found a good crowbar helps when you get it stuck:shutup:. My son just laughs when I have to go and get him to help his mummy get the chainsaw out :o ...but I have become very good at reassembling/tightening the chain etc.

I guess we can look on the bright side knowing that we will all have plenty to do all summer cutting it up and plenty of lovely fires to drink in front of next winter......my favourite :drinknsin
