That's impressive
Went for a tootle to W(h)anganui today to see a lovely lass and my goodness I am sore, perhaps it's time to move on from the CB? My backs gone west, my buggered hip is hurtingand my knees are rooted.
Or I shouldn't have crashed the Bros650....?
I could do 500km on the Spada no sweat in a day, I'm fitter than I was when I last did that, yet after a total of 2 hours on the CB I am rooted. I better get the Kwack going, because it feels uber comfy while I've sat on it and made brrrrm brrm brm noises.

Interesting way of doing KER, guess you could have two wheel drive the same way if needed, wonder if the suspension is compromised by it though. Obviously not too much as he seems to be kicking ass!

The Kawafatty is alive, it's freakin gutlesss and has a bit of cam chain rattle, but nothing I can't fix with lube and a hammer....
I'll take it for a decent ride tonight to try clear it's lungs and see how that works.
The to do list is, thrash it, new clutch cable and a nice service, then drink some beer.

Rode the Kawafatty to Bunnythorpe today (new house!) and it was still superbly gutless, I honestly think it's slower than a GPX250 at the moment...:gob:
It's pulling happily enough to 5krpm, and is dead from 6krpm upwards. When the clutch is in, it revs happily and drops revs off the gas good, until it hits to the 5 thousand mark again and it starts to drop away very slowly. The throttle seems to be shutting so it must be very, very out of sync. y the headlight.
Will get the tune up specs and go over her.
'Twas very comfy to ride and last night I was impressed by the headlight.

Fair point, i have no rego on either, unless rego-hold counts?
I got the rubbers off, they had leaks where the CRC got in when I was trying to find all the unsealed bits. Cleaned everything, dried it all and have put sealant on the lot. Will smack it together in an hour or two and see if I have won!

pulled out and re-jetted my carbs today, 142/138 to 165/160 mains now, so 35% increase in jet area, wonder how many ponys that'll translate to, am hoping for a wheelstanding amount  just have to mount the battery and other electricals now, then start testing the jetting. Still idles and revs alright so can't be too far off, gets very raspy and loud on overrun though.

Manifold rubbers are sealing now. But, it's still acting like it has a very small intake leak. Buuuuuuut, I am a bit suss about the air filter element, it's a foam type and I doubt original, it also needs to be oiled (anyone have any oil?)
It doesn't drop revs very fast below 2500-700ish now and still feels a bit off up the top and the throttle is a wee bit hesitant. Pulls a shit load better than before though, but, the CB will still outpace it in it's sleep.

got some oil for my dirtbike you can use, not going to use any on my uni pods for the bros for a while, as another guy got a backfire through the carbs and the whole lot went up in flames. Oil is only really required in high dust situations anyway i think. Slides are operating well now, they could cause it to be a bit slow to build and drop revs? The diaphram air lines nice and clean?

so why not an RF? Pretty good value for money. Mine did everything I needed brilliantly and was bloody economical too, I could easily get over 350 a tank (19 litres IIRC, banditrider will probably know), although I do recall getting to 380 once, two up, when I had to switch to reserve.

An RF is definitely on the list now. I do like them, bloody good bikes and I imagine they are very comfortable?
I've never had much luck getting off bikes whilst moving, it may be my over the bars dismount?
Perhaps getting rid of both bikes would be a better option and get one that does everything, ZZR600/1100 or RF900/600 VFR750/800. Not overly worried on the power side of things as they all make acceptable or more grunt (80 or more at the wheel in my humble opinion)

It's interesting that I had a Two Wheels magazine which had a ride comparison between the RF and the ZZ-R - they lumped them both in the same class. The ZZ-R probably only had the extra ponies and 6th cog in it's favour. The RF was a great bike - one thing I remember is how well it handled in the tighter, bumpier stuff.
Did my first three Grand Challenges on mine, so comfort pretty good. Got some data on it's economy somewhere...

I had a quiet beer in the garage whilst thinking about putting my radiator on and realised I am an idiot.
The ZZR400 is exactly the same as the 600, brakes, suspension etc except it's sleeved down, different valves, carbs and no oil cooler.....So, why not sell the honda and pick up a 600 motor/carbs etc? That way, iA can use the dirt cheap 400 for something useful! Off on a motor hunt now.

The gravel was all good too when I went through, just quite dusty - you may not have wanted to be following too closely!
I think I mentioned before that I would rate it right up there with the FH as a ride. In fact, the roads are in better nick (mind the unmarked new seal though). Some fantastic views and truly mint curves!

yeh big bang (or something asymmetric anyway) shouldn't be too hard, single plane crank with a firing order 1-3-2-4 or something like that at the moment? Ignition be easy, carb wouldn't need changing. Cams need a bit of work, may be possible to split the cams in half and rejoin them as the sprocket is in the middle right? could get it firing at 0, two cylinders at 180, the last at 360, then 360 of nothing! Would need crank angle and firing order to confirm that. It'd be pretty epic to do :wings:

It's 1-3-4-2 at the moment, so if 1/4 then 3/2 fire that could be fun It's just your normal plane I imagine... It's waste spark, so that won't need to be changed at all, why the 360 of nothing? Or is my brain not working?

Nearly got all of my Farkles for the V-Strom. Just waiting on one item (a very common item one fits for winter riding) - from a NZ distributor. They've had my order (and payment) since Sunday before last and still no delivery - you get better service from over seas...
Looking forward to a day in the shed, Easter would be perfect...

Hmmmm, looking on bikebandit it appears the 600 crank has the timing chain between 3 and 4, and mid pins down while end ones are up rather than 1up1down1up1down like I guessed. Possibly could still split them between 2 and 3. With the firing order you listed I think you would get twin firing at 0 and 180, then 540 of nothing!

Probably white I reckon. The frame's already black so should help break up all the white. A clever painter may be able to suggest some black touches to run with the rest of the theme. Maybe a Suzuki sticker with a black outline but white fill?

The chain is in the middle on the 600 and 400. Yeah, 1 and 4 are the same, just like the general majority of 4 cyls, I've never seen one different except the M1/R1. This can be done....it'll be a piece of shit...but, it already is.

Just bent a few of my feeler gauges to go over my valve clearances, I don't trust the results though. All except the left hand intake valve on number 2 are well within spec (on the tighter side too  )
Intakes are meant to be .15-.22 and exhausts .22-.31mm, yet the afore mentioned bugger was .279  Bit scary. Will get a second opinion perhaps with other feeler gauges. Some may have actualy been too tight  So will have to see what happens...
