Well had some goodies for the bike turn up just now, pity it's in at AFC atm... Mind you I could always fit it to the other ZX14 they lent me to get home on, must say that "limited edition" paint job does look better out in the sun but it's still not my cuppa tea.

this post is pointless without pictures!!!!

My nephew Adam was diagnosed with cancer when he was very young. His parents of course were distraught and like any young couple had no money to spare. A lot of time was needed to be spent in Wellington for treatment-that involved a lot of travel and accommodation costs.

RMH offered a place where they could stay and petrol vouchers to help transport Adam to his chemo sessions. They found that staying with other parents in a similar situation gave them the endless support, comfort and the will to help Adam fight this cruel disease.

I myself feel I did not do enough to help them.....I have many excuses. Although I readily offered my help I was scared and not sure what was needed. We were not a particularly close knit family-the saying was `I’ve raised my kids; you can raise yours’ (from Grandparents). I was not allowed to interfere so could only offer an ear if needed-I should have done more for them.

After a gallant fight, Adam passed away at age 4.

I chose a mighty Golden Elm to plant for him in the garden. The kids and I picked out a big Elm from the nursery and planted it so it would have pride and place of the garden. When spring came and the neighbours Elms had started to bud-Adams tree was bare. A month later when the neighbour’s trees were in full leaf-Adams tree was still bare. I figured it was perhaps a `dud` tree and a nursery confirmed it must be dead. I left the tree there as a reminder and felt that I was being punished for being such a coward by doing something `after` rather than when it was needed before his passing.

That summer while we were in town I asked the kids if they wanted to go up and see Adams grave-he had been gone for awhile I still had not gone up to see him. We went to see him and had a chat. The kids left some things for him, a precious `Pokemon card` and flowers. I told him I loved him and hoped things were ok now he was pain free. A few weeks later my son Sam yelled from the garden “Mum, come and see Adams tree”. You guessed it........it was covered in leaves.......

Fundraising for the RMH is the least I can do, for Adam and the huge number of people who go through the devastation of having a critically sick child.

8mm does not fit into 5mm, unless theres some sort of space-time adapter, think the autobots have them. 5mm fit into 8mm hole is doable, remachining the 8mm thread down to a 5mm thread is probably doable...

one of the mirrors fell off my bike today, as i was riding. noticed it was in the wrong place and went to ajust it. and it came off in my hand!!!! snapped clean in the adjusting bit. not possibale to weld it back together so was thinking replace with something FLASH (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=265705553)

i know they are ment for handle bar mount, but i recon they would work just as well off the fairing. the hole were my current mirrors are have 5mm bolts and these fancy ones have 8mm.

so thats the problem in contexts. remachining sounds good. would this weeken it to much??

any other solutions that dont involve big hammers or autobots??? maby we could bring in that top fuels drag bike that was at the boxing day races, that tears holes in the time-space continuum and makes little girls cry. anything is possible when that happens!!!

well sure there are other solutions but without hammers or autobots they arent nearly as fun :D

I cant actually tell how they mount from the TM picture, Im assuming they have a single 8mm which threads into the clipons on the handlebars. And your VFR has two 5mm hole bout 20-40mm apart? If that is the case we could make an adapter to fit between them

This eye-catching concept bike called the Ducati 599 Mono is the latest creation of Dan Anderson, the same man behind the Voltra electric concept that blinked an eye to the motorcycle press last year.

While its creator doesn’t have bad references at all, we can’t say we’re too ashamed of the way this thing looks…perfect, that is. You can spend hours trying to find something wrong with the aggressive design, which remains faithful to the original Ducati style, but once you start getting into details, something just doesn’t fit. More precisely, the 352lbs (dry) Ducati 599 Mono concept is powered by one half of a Ducati Evoluzione 1198 engine, meaning a 599cc single-cylinder thumper.

So why would anyone want to do that? My guess is that the designer thought at sacrificing horsepower over torque so that his concept would attract attention for eventually being capable to offer supermoto-like engine performance despite the Italian supersport lines. How does this combination sound to you?

anyone heard of Yamaha's patient for a special turbo-diesel motorbike engine design?
with todays turbo-diesel technology, we could see BHp figures close to what we have with conventional motors.... but with a F@#k load of torque!
should be interesting to see what happens, and what bikes they decide to put them in.

Not mention economy. I think that this (http://www.dieselmotorfiets.nl/) would be a great bike for touring the world on. I reckon a quiet, smooth & powerful diesel (it would have to be all 3) in something like the Connie would be great - think of the range! The GC in on 2 tanks of gas...

Funny how swings and round-a-bout's are, last weekend was a shocker, nothing was panning out but this weekend was a pearler, got all my bling fitted and i'm pretty wrapped about the way that's turned out, after the ride home just now (in quite pleasant weather) I feel the bike is pretty much back to it's old self again (touch wood) and is crisp with an elastic urge like the hand of god pushing it along the road.. A nice day out during the weekend, MINT!!

You sure you can't use the old ones? Mine were a bit daggy but I just went carefully and made sure I put them on the tapered end first and then slipped the new mid pipe over carefully. Nothing to loose if you've ordered new ones anyway. Remember that the gasket goo is supposed to have 24 hours curing though...

Did you apply the gasket maker on both ends of the mid pipe? I onlt applied the stuf on the end that went into the canisters.

Just from cans to mids. The bottom end needs to be able to move a little as you get everything into place nicely before tightening everything up. Also, make sure that you get the mufflers nicely lined up before the goo goes off - wouldn't do to have your nice oval mufflers looking skew-f (just made that spelling up)!

haha the pogo effect rapidly decreases the turning radius of the bike through corners giving it better handling, but lengthens the swing arm through straights to increase top speed......
i tell you cowboyz is sneaky, its a carefully planed modification

I knew I had a plan!... just wasnt quite sure what it was... still dont.

I knew all those racer's with Ohlins had it wrong. Broken is the future!

yep. wanna throw that CKT suspension my way and I can give you a piece of 4x2.........

He he, I would'nt worry too much about Cowboyz, he's proven he could ride the 9 with just about anything on it and still be pretty handy in pace out on Manfeild. He did his PB with a shock that had absolutely zero damping effect so...

Just telling it like it is really, every now and then things have to go ones way and yes it'll be interesting to see how you feel about things with the shock fixed, might pay to chuck some new fork oil at it too mate, old stuff must be like water like you were saying.

Nah, once we got underway it was easy. A bit of a squeeze for Michelle on the Tiger until we got to Waipuk where Sel's very kindly put the tent and airbed onto his Tiger leaving us the back seat free. From there the ride got even better, especially the twisties into the rally site!!!
