Shit makes some of the kiwis rides seem a small stroll.
I even managed a small loop this arvo.Checked air pressures and needed a little air,so did that.Onto Rangitikei and out to Bunnythorpe, nice ride and gave a bit of spirited right hand, impressive I thought, onto Ashhurst.
Through HW57,gave way to car turning and sat on 110km behind it,thought this is nice and time to go,around a corner comes :Police:check speed and 115km,wait and see but all good. The bloody uneven road surface by Tielcy Park or Orrs Rd (not exactly sure which) was fun after you've just passed a car and doing 120 ish, nice cruise into the village, saw 2 bikes and waved.
Got home and realised it is longest ride without a pillion since I've had the bike.

Couple of observations, the weather is getting warmer with leathers and t shirt making a nice combo, and without pillion you can have the confidence of taking a bit more lean/risk and learn what the bike can do within reason. We live in a great country to ride around, hope I never lose that feeling of enjoyment when riding, even if only say 50km trip.

Just had an awesome pillion spin on the back of a TransAlp over the track to Pahiatua. Very impressed at how that goes through the twisites even with those knobbly tyres on. Still it is heavier than the Scrambler so when the lotto win comes in I am still sure I will be biased towards a Triumph

Going to try a KTM off road at the weekend whilst the beast is getting some tender loving care in Opunake :sunny: Get to go for some stationary drops and skids without the normal stress involved

Want to know which curse of plague and pestilence she suffers from to determine if I'll go to the TOMMC ride tomorrow. I was taking the dog down to the river for walkies and saw a guy on a GN transporting some lengths of wood! He had carpet around one end which was rested on the tank & in his lap (comfy) and the other ends were poking out over the handle bars. Probably 5-6 foot lengths. Dunno what he was going to do if he had to potter around a tight corner.

Just needed a suit of armour and he'd be set for a joust!

Any 250 cc bike?

Went to Tui today, had a convoy of 23 cars from Palmy thru to Woodville, grouped there, joined a group of 12 from Napier and Gissy.Parked around the back of tui,and went for a tour, then bbq lunch.

A few pics with the tui girls for those who won prizes, the girls picked best car and the winner obliged with the required burnout, very impressive too,so next time you're at Mangatoinoka and check and see if the tyre marks on the area by the outdoors area are still there.Bloody elderly hoon, and he's happy to get 8-10000km from his tyres.

A few bikes turned up,a couple heading home from cold kiwi, which was cold but good.About to grab another beer and stuff me walk upto another guy from Hawera, small world.Saw a few bikes on way home as well.Overall a great day out.

Nah, I grabbed the brakes so I didn't get shunted anywhere and she just hit the tyre and stopped. Her rear bumper just caved in and then popped out, those big fat modern plastic jobbies are pretty good at handling a moderate ding. I was a bit disappointed, it didn't have a mark on it!

Hmm some time at home certainly would be nice alright-it would be good to get some of those spring cleaning jobs done:niceone:

Number one son has to have an operation to attach a bone back into its proper place on Friday-he has to rest 23hrs/day until then for the swelling to go down. He has worked out that little brothers are very handy when you can't move much:rolleyes: I have told Jake to ask him what the hourly rate is for 9yr olds is:clap:

You really have to wonder if they do these stunts deliberatly for you tube.

Mum did similar when I got my amazing TS185,told her hop on,showed her the clutch, brakes etc,she rode around the lawn at snail like speed, then hit a clump of freshly mown grass, ended in a shrub. After dad, brother and myself stopped pissing ourselves,we extracated her.

Michelle have fun with Sam,best of luck, mums worry with operations with their sons, even so called minor ones.

I also did something similar many years ago, just after Dad had finished giving me my first ever riding lesson on his bike (CB175 I think). We went home and I jumped on my little sisters cut down moped (knees around shoulder height) ran over a doggie dooie on the front lawn (only wheelie I have ever done) and landed on my butt. Funny, nearly peed myself. :killingme

The thread maybe losing traction though so tread carefully and to a depth of 3mil over 2 thirds its content or your get steel belted about the head by the carcass of a mod, obviously inflated to the correct psi... but dont hold it in, release your inner tube.

feilding riders would be exactly what you are looking for. When the weather comes clearer I will post up some ashhurst rides again although they tend to be faster NOONE will complain about waiting. Real good bunch of guys round here.

The Friday night rides in the summer are mint too. Really wide range of bikes on them and no one ever gets left behind.

+1

sounds like a plan. pretty sure we will be in. when?

Cool, have just got my ole bike running again ....well almost.... had starter problems, made a new starter out of 2 models of Yammy and then had no spark on No2 .... couple bare wires in the engine.... fixed that..... carb problem, think thats fixed and now it wont run unless 3/4 choked but plugs look overchoked LOL so its going into the mechanics this week and im picking the timing needs a tweak.
I work alternate weekends and nights so will see if I can hit on a free day to go ridng with you guys when bike all running again ..... some have said best place for my bike is tail end anyway cos its supposedly too noisy LMAO

That is the bit I'm looking forward to the most, riding bikes I don't own:Oops::calm:

I have to sell that little blue machine first, it's on trademe realistically priced for the next learner to build their confidence, as I've done.

Its been a really great experience for me, this getting my licence and getting a bike and learning to ride. I was told my 2 people close to me that, no, no motorbikes wouldn't suit you, no you shouldn't get one of those, yes I only have one wife:Oops:, so being an arrogent, pig headed male, what did I do, get my licence and then a bike. I must admit I have really enjoyed the company and the outings from many of you on the Friday night rides and Yes, they are about to begin again:2thumbsup, it has been a comfort for my wife to know I'm with such company wo look after each other and help each other out, I shouldn't name any one really as I'm bound to offend some one but the likes of Bonez willing to help any one and Monie looking out for me making sure I'm still coming when the leaders have left ya for dust when you are gathering confidence. So thanks to you all, Its been awesome.

If there is any one out there reading this who is new to riding or wanting to get a licence and not sure, hey my advise it JUST DO IT, sorry nike:Oops:

Life is way too short to listen to nay sayers. And a biggerer bike means the lady at home can enjoy the trips(or tell her to get her license). Many a lady said "I'm not hopping on the back" actually enjoy riding.

One thing about the rides is being comfortable at your pace, and nobody gives grief if you are slow,we can't all start off like superbike stars. And watching guys like 86,Cowboyz,Meanie,Yod,Bonez,Monie,NZSarge,to name a few is the confidence you get by following and watching them, usually dissapearing quickly, but picking up on the way the bike handles, and trying to be smooth. One ride up the track we did I wanted to get to the top and bottom of the first hill on it without braking, keeping it smooth and fastish(for me 2 up),managed to do it,rode the remaining 20km to Pahiatua happy as.Watching these guys helped, especially when new to area like we are,not knowing the roads as well as others.

Pretty sure they won't actually call round to take it from you. They'll suspend it then order you to surrender it to your nearest Police station. Whether you do or not they're hardly going to chase you for it. If you chance it, get pulled over and they do a licence check the system will ask you to assume the position.

29th September 2009, 17:25
Oh yeah. The ticket is for an alleged infringement. The demerits don't hit your licence until you're found or plead guilty. Paying is in effect pleading guilty.

IIRC to get the maximum delay without incurring additional costs ignore the ticket due date, but make sure you pay by the due date of the first reminder notice. If you miss that you'll be referred to the courts. You should be able to delay things by about two months.
