Cheers Sarge!
It became apparent very early that Tracy is not ready for the road yet. The 800m ride home was a cringe festival:shit:, so I'll find a quiet car park (thinking work) tomorrow and get her doing some basics. Not really something I wanted to deal with, but she's got to get out there.
Now I'll go and make room for it in the garage!
Yay for Tracy, she will be fine once she spends some time on it. I know the feeling of the first ride, stalled the bike 5 times before I even got out of the driveway, and to think that was only 12 months ago. Time flys when you are riding

15th January 2009, 17:43
yep. Problem wasnt the balancing. it was a fucked wheel bearing. But it didnt have the courtesy to be completely fucked. just a little fucked so I couldnt feel it on the road but when I was on the track the bike was handling like crap. Should be better now (I hope)

The Beastie and I have been carving up some massive gravel roads lately (I am soooo a closet dirt bike rider)-it is very nice to handle in the rough. I actually enjoy the gravel more than the tarseal (it is very sticky at the moment and every council has decided it is mint weather for resealling:2guns:!!)
But thanks for the `heads up' -I have heard a few horror stories about the belts and stones. The Beastie has a bit of a guard under it by the belt...but as we know that don't mean shite when it comes to stones:shifty::laugh:

hmm wots a girl to do with a day off .. go riding perhaps  ..
Well was gonna head to Dannivegas & play on my fav roads over there, with Sugi leading me astray ... however my body had other ideas. .. this getting old lark is not alot of fun  had a brutal day yesterday & was not up for a ride that distance. sooo made a wee plan B :blip:
My partner in crime was also feeling the effects of two full on days so a coffee & chat was in order .. even though we had chatted yesterday  so a gentle :ride: to palmy & a fortifying coffee later it was time to see who was coming out to play .. Text 1 was enjoying a bevvy after work so that was out .....ahh I know .. text two & after a wee tease, cajole & wink a tiger was let out of his cage to play :woohoo:
The pussy cat responded with a nice growl & a fun ride ensued with BB pulling a dodgy maneouver at the lights to leave him in her wake ..:innocent: however then said pussy cat just had to give BB the learn & pulled a really nice wheelie ..
so after another fortifying latte & hot chocy a beaut evening out there & twisted the tiger's arm to come out for a ride .. what was going to be slow pootle, turned into a nice wee pace since the roads were quiet, quick stop at opiki when my visor went to pop off so got that fixed .. hit the lead & spidey sense was on full alert seen mr plod in the distance, luckily BB & tiger managed to scrub enough speed off to appear respectable, (methinks he could not be bothered turning around & giving chase)
anyhow a smoke break in shannon before BB & tiger parted ways, headed for home to feed the horses, where I would normally change to a cage .. but this riding was just to enjoyable so carried on through, horses taken care of time to get home, wash BB & tuck her into bed
Great to catch up Carmen & Al .. lets do it again real soon
Brilliant wee pootle, spent most of it laughing .. and even better not a gravel road in sight

I finally popped my cherry on the track .
Decided to do track day on Saturday with the Pacific Club, Pauly decided he should escort me around for the first session, so he borrowed Paul Buckley's SV650 race bike, me being rather nervous, we headed out. OMG what an awesome experience, followed Pauly around for the first lap, and then he decided to go abit faster and I decided not to push too much at that stage.
Couldnt stop smiling.
Due to me doing the dummy grid for the weekend, I missed a couple of the next sessions but then headed out after lunch for another go, and once again throughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Had a huge day yesterday with the racing. Then us being as mad as we are, we headed off to Speedway last night (well worth it).
Went to get up this morning and the body didnt want to co-operate, legs are very sore so decided a day at home was in order.
All in all had an awesome weekend. Roll on next track day
mmm might have to look at new tyres soon, as Pauly decided to take my bike out for the last session. He was amazing at how well it performed so hence tyres are very well scrubbed

Yeah it was awesome
As for the sore legs it was a combination of several things, doing sessions on the track, and being on my feet for 2 days at the track doing the dummy grid and having to jump over the pit wall to grid bikes on track, and doing rescue at times on Saturday. All this along with having an injured foot for the last few weeks. So hence yes I had sore legs!!!

Up into Tremaine and he's doing massive wheelies. I think I'd better not as a bust would be bad. However, I decide to do just a little one at the lights up Ruahine. When we get there he's indicating in the same direction, having a yak, good bloke, when a carfull of boiracers pulls up. Edit: Time to meet for coffee is now 4:15 PM, a venue can be decided by text if necessary but will be in the street that Cuba st cafe intersects with so it it sould'nt be difficult to find for those interested.

They say bad things come in 3's. Well do they? What happens after the 3rd bad thing? Do the following count as bad enough for something good to happy (I was thinking powerball):
Puncture on East Cape (ok easy to fix so not too bad)
Loosing my clip on sunnies yesterday
And this has to count: car broken into at work (window smashed, broad daylight) and radar detector, ipod transmitter snatched.
Thoughts?

I don't like this bad luck in 3's stuff.
#1 Got a phone call from boss at work (school) Saturday afternoon. Tech room alarm went off. Drove over and checked it out to find smashed 1 litre cans of paint outside. Little bottles of paint and vivids missing and paint splashed over floor, outside of buildings and grass, graffiti (tags in vivid on walls). Nothing valuable taken. Secured everything and went home.
#2 Arrived this morning to find caretaker cleaning new graffiti off inside walls, machines, etc. They came back Saturday night and even had time to turn on some equipment and have a play. Lots of tagging. Again nothing valuable taken. Cost is negligible other than time and frustration. I really appreciate our caretaker right now. Small gangs of juveniles roaming all weekend. Room secured to next level.
I am still waiting for #3

F..ken right, the old adage it's easy to flog it than work to get it pisses me off,who cares if it is a radar detector in an SS or XR8 or Lada, just cause the owner got off their arse and worked to buy it doesn't give any scum prick the right to flog it.
The worst part is the fact it usually is wet and a smashed window lets water in,the cops will be keen to do their bit. They will advise remove the detector and the window bracket and suction marks as well from the windscreen, seems the little wanksteins see the marks from suction cups and will smash to see if it in the glovebox, under the seat etc.

Thought I might inform you all out there that on Wed night 25th Feb 2009 at 7 pm at McDonalds on the square there is a fund raising launch in the Manawatu for the Ronald McDonald house in Wellington.
In 2004 my wife and I had a baby 13 weeks premature and spent 6 months in Wellington's Ronald McDonald house while the baby was in hospital for this time. Staying in the house for this lenght of time NEVER COST US A CENT!
You really can't comprehend the value of such a place till you need it!!
If any one out there is at a loose end on Wednesday night and can make it it would be great to see you.

You may never(read never want to) use the facility but if you do what a god send eh.Same as Oznamm House here brilliant, same as in Taranaki a lady who died of cancer(met her once before she died)had an idea of a beach batch for cancer families, her husband organised builders etc and it was built, any cancer victims' families can stay free, even food supplied.Only bummer was just prior to the house being alarmed some lowlifes broke in stole lcd tvs, dvds ps2 etc, turned out they caught them.

Yes, all the best for this!
A wee update on my condition
As I've mentioned to a few, the first few days were hell but at least I can say that morphine works!
I've been looked after extremely well by Monamie  who has put up with my disabled state brilliantly and hasn't once succumbed to the temptation to have me permanently put down
I'm still having to sleep in a lazyboy due to my shoulder and ribs, but I've adapted pretty well considering.
Every day gets better, at first, the nights were the worse but now I'm actually sleeping and managing to get myself upright in the mornings and during the night if I wake up.
ACC have been really helpful, as have work. I've had lot's of calls and received a huge bunch of flowers from them, awwww.
I haven't mentioned that I bit my tounge when I came off, which freaked Kerry out a bit, blood everywhere apparantly. This is slowly mending thank God!
Showering takes quite awhile and I got my plaster wet a few times. That actually worked out alright tho as it softened the bloody thing enough to make it a bit more comfortable.
I had a real nasty episode early on with that plaster when I had a bit of a drug induced panic attack hallucination which felt as though the plaster was on my face and suffocating me :sweatdrop I had to cut the bloody thing down a bit to stop the feeling, which was OK as it didn't affect my hand at all.
Yesterday I had my first orthopedic appointment and plaster change.
Because of the dampness, my hand was quite 'soggy' and it was odd seeing surgical wire protruding from it.
But the X Rays revealed a really good heal and the doc was very happy with the progress.
I'm now sporting a lightweight plastic support to keep everything in place. This is just bandaged on and is sooooo much better.
I've another appointment next week where I expect more good news and maybe, just maybe, will get a coloured plastic plaster. And yes! They have kwaka green among the choices
I've also flown in the face of current medical philosophy and am bandaging my ribs. I was unable to get a logical reason why they don't do this anymore, the explanation I did get sounded a bit too new age for my liking, so I'm doing it anyway. It makes it so much more comfortable. And besides, they didn't say I couldn't :p
I'm told I will be fully out of plaster in another 4 1/2 weeks so I'm kind of aiming for this to be the back in the saddle time frame as well. Although, I'll play this one by ear.
Which reminds me, I may need a bike. The assessment on mine is still underway and I'll know more very soon. I've made no secret of the fact that I don't mind mine being written off but if mine is restored to new condition I'm OK with that as well. Although a new new Tiger would be bloody mint :)
My gear is nicely underway and I'll know what's happening on that front hopefully by the end of the week. In any event, AMI have said I can have my helmet back, and I'll be hanging that on the wall as a reminder. As mentioned, I have me new Shoei all ready and waiting
I'm definitely going to be taking it easy when the time comes and work up to my comfort level.
Although, as this accident has proven, sometimes there's just no warning.
Can't wait to get back on the road though.

CLEAR THE ROADS, OIL TANKER APPROACHING 250!!
seriously tho, i reckon she'd have a bit left to go
Not much more according to other reports. Though there is a guy in the states talking turbo at the moment...
i wonder if it had a parachute out the back like they have on other aircraft..........
LHS pannier, big-arse muffler on the other side helps counteract yank of chute opening.

I was waiting for the wheelie, Connies don't seem the same without them now
Excellent night out at the Yeah Right HQ last night. Wishing to avoid the great unwashed we arrived just in time to see Jordan unleashing a whole bagfull of Exponents hits, ahhh the memories
Sat out the next band and caught up with the Woodville crew and talked shit for an hour.
The Feelers put on a great show, these guys just cannot write a bad song. The crowd was good despite the weather and the atmosphere inside the Tui warehouse was A OK! Real good night
