I believe the correct term is conVOY......of course if you want to be exact you would probavbly refer to them as "one seriously big ass convoy"

have heard its on but cant find any info about it

I'll be heading over somewhere around 10am. It doesn't kick off til 12 but you have to be in early for a badge and there's generally a BBQ in action for a pre-ride snarler.

It has come to my attention that Sarah has organised a barbie at my place on Sat night after the Coast to Coast. Good stuff. All welcome, there's even a bed or two if required. Bring something to drink, we'll supply a bit of food but if ya want the good stuff bring something too  Hopefully this weather will have blown through by then and we can get the stereo cranked up too :woohoo:

I've left my one's on on the last 2 bikes I've traded and they seemed to disappear before the bikes were put on sale. (Even the luggage on my K6 disappeared this time around).

You might be better off trying to find another Ace rider on KB and flogging it off to them.

I agree with that ,go honda's ,have actually taken a liking to the blackbird(along with the vfr) lately as i see them at just about every ride im on and by the looks of them they're built for touring, never ridden one as of yet but i plan to in the near future.although ive heard some rough comments on the linked brake system

If you must get rid of one of the classic bikes of this ( and last ) century, go for a Honda.

There are far too many of those bloody big Kwakas screaming past me every time I go out for a ride ( can't wait for whatever new version of the blackbird Honda decides to bless us with ).
I did consider a new Honda CB1300, the faired version, nice bike but I like the bike i'm thinking about even better.

That was a great buy but it would be a cold day in Hell before I bought from there.

Damn straight! Lucky they lost the kwaka dealership...

I agree with that ,go honda's ,have actually taken a liking to the blackbird(along with the vfr) lately as i see them at just about every ride im on and by the looks of them they're built for touring, never ridden one as of yet but i plan to in the near future.although ive heard some rough comments on the linked brake system

But have inquired to most of the manawatu bike dealerships on the 08 black birds and prices etc ,because im looking into possibly purchasing one in the near future

Haven't found the brakes to be an issue but as I'm a slow, sad old bastard, Im not working them to the max.

And they sure beat the hell out of the bikes I was riding 20 years ago.

Next time you are down near Feilding, send me a message and you take mine out for a whirl.

AND, this is my 1000th post :shit:

So, I'd just like to thank all you guys for making this one hell of a year. In many ways, for me it's been a shit of a year with Gayelene's death and the subsequent bullshit, but you guys have been a huge help in turning that around with the great rides, support, and company. So thanks. A lot :first:

I'm off to Africa on Tuesday so won't see most of you before then, so have a very happy Christmas and a great New Year. Be safe, and looking forward to many more great times in 2008 :2thumbsup

If anyone is keen i'll be at Dannevirke BP from 11:30 to 11:45, want to take the Ace on what might be it's last decent ride with me as it maybe (and I stress MAYBE) getting traded next week.
Thinking of heading east or north somewhere, very very short notice so I dont expect any takers, it all happened pretty quickly.
If it does go i'll miss the Ace (, despite some obvious short comings it's a great bike.

hmmmmm trading the ace huh

IMHO, the linked brakes are just fine, simply not an issue. If you were in the top 5% of fast riders then maybe you would get a better result but for everyday riding, they are great. Some good deals on 'birds at present as manufacturing has stopped. The new one are just run-outs with no replacement in sight yet. Some of my mates from the UK Blackbird website have covered way over 200000 km without major engine work. A testament to their reliability.

Could be keen to do this too, will know sooner to the date.
I'll have firm up a route for the Hawkes Bay ride I mentioned a couple of weeks back and post it up in meetings and events.
Might be a mission for me on the new bike, that way I can check what it will do on a tank of go juice, it's got a smaller tank than the Ace so I reckon the fuel light will come on before the 200k mark for sure.

Yeah..It's totally different to the Ace thats for sure, pissed me of it rained on the way home coz I was gonna go through the back way to Oringi just to have a play. Coz it's a sit up riding position it does'nt feel natural when you corner it but it's on rails none the less, just gotta learn to relax on it a bit, I was going along telling myself not to grip the handlebar grips so tight.
It will all fall into place eventually.

Chassis is quite taught but it rides slightly better than the Ace did, partly coz there is no road shock going through my arms and wrists, quite flickable and is light to handle in town and the open road. The motor is more flexable than I thought, it turns out you have to twist the throttle a little further to get the secondary butterflies to open up properly and she pulls a bit harder.

great first impressions I hear ya on the sitting upright position, when nasty lent me her bike for the cheesecutter campaign ride it felt really unstable was not used to the front end being so light & took a bit of getting used to .. & I thought Betsy was a pretty upright position as well ..

Fair enough, The problem I see with the 2nd is people still may have family stuff going on, it's a difficult time of year to plan a ride, either you luck in with a mutually acceptable date or there is no interest.

Meanie understands. No just me. If your heading out Vinegar hill theres a nice road that the Ashhurst guys never seem to ride but its very nice and comes out before Mangaweka.

nice run. I had never been on that road either. Nice corners with some amazing scenery. Good catchup at ohinigiti. Vinegar hill was entertaining. Nothing like racing 70 yr old grandmas in little hatchbacks to make you feel fast huh?

Have a great xmas and might see you at the beach next week.

You came and escaped the Naki without your passport for the republic, naughty boy.:Police:

Put the driving down to the fact it is xmas,am working today, and it will be fun in Stratford, all the idiot old coots come to town, from the backblocks, via FH to buy pressies for the wife(sheep etc). They only come to town a couple of times a year, gotta love angle parking and road works on the two roundabouts in town.Meanwhile in Hawera similar things happen, good day here car or bike to work.
