Went to see Avatar last night, 7.5 out of 10.
Loses half a point because the special effects although are awesome there was a couple of points in the beginning that I though could have been better but it neither here nor there, story line was'nt too bad, nothing out of this world but easily watchable, bit of everything for most people i'd think.
If you relax into it the fact that most of it is computer generated disappears from your mind.
Must be seen on the big screen to fully appreciate though I think. Nah bugger it, 8 out of 10....

Gotta say i'm pretty happy with the 14 other than the suspension (but I have that issue with all standard bikes to one degree or another) but if Yamaha built the new R1 about 20% bigger with a slightly less prone riding position i'd be riding one I reckon.

Well, we're home from getting the Bonne's first service at Motorad in Wellington.:D Quiet ride down, but the weather turned a little bleak before Otaki. Pretty sad considering it was mint in Palmy when we left at 8.00am.

The service was underway by 10.30am and we got a call at 11.30am to say it was ready. A quick walk back, payment sorted and a new pair of summer gloves for me and we were back on the road.

Traffic was a bit heavier coming home and it was fairly windy. We stopped at Otaki and filled up with fuel, though strangely after 218k, my fuel light hadn't yet come on. I guess riding slower has a major impact on economy, as it would only take 12.37ltr, which equates to 5.67ltr/100km.

I decided after Otaki to pick up the pace a bit and all went well till I hit Shannon. I came around the sharp left-hander into Ballance St a little over 50kph:ride:, only to find two police officers standing on the road :eek5: stopping traffic. Routine licence, WOF, rego check:sweatdrop and I was back on my way.:D

I took the long route via Linton and made it home only about 5 minutes before Tracy. FMS!

So was reading some kb today:shifty:, came across a thread for sv1000 suspension set. Was reading about the height of the forks above clips to read that stand is 6 mm. Got me thinking bout my forks and the suspension as I have had a funny feeling when turning right. So went out to bike and meassured my forks and found that the right fork was 2mm high than the left. WTF The left was 10mm thats 4 mm above stock? So after about 1 hr of working out how to get the fork down, via lefting the front of bike of the gound using a rope, I got the the two forks the same height of 8mm. In the thread it goes on to say that 8mm was the best for turn in and holding of line.
Went for a ride:2thumbsup to see if any diff, and what ya know, to me the bike turned in to the right more smoother and held it's line better. Well it could have been in my head as I did not to my test track route (due to placing tag). I know I did not change these forks before so must have been the owner before me. What dummy to get that wrong<_<.

Always mint when you have a tinker and things end up going better, had a trip to Palmy today, went here and there and picked up OS X Snow Leopard for the computer. Well its taken a bit over two months (and an armful of custom piping, adapters, joiners, brackets also bout 4 rolls of electrical tape, two pairs of jeans, two doz export, half a doz drill bits, and heaps more!), but finally have vannage back on the road  Still got a squeaky belt in there, and seems to have a bit of buell-ish idle, but starts a lot better, leaks a lot less oil, and is way easier to do drifties. And best of all, I can now get my MX on again :headbang:

He hardly ever uses the front one, may be he could try making that bike lighter by getting rid of that one instead, the wheel is rarely on the ground.

So he'll be spending all day riding today I guess before that .......no I won't say........that might be thought to be rubbing it in......... and we never pick on him do we........

you could try the kayak place down sutton Pl. they make kayaks, kayaks sometimes have foam seats in them i think????

Anyone know where to get a motorbike seat re-coverd???

Flynn
18th January 2010, 14:34
I'd try Para rubber for foam and Auto Interiors for the seat recover or you could just try Auto Interiors from the outset and save a trip to Para Rubber.

took my bike to Wanganui today for its 120,000km service. While i was there i took a Honda DN01 (http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_dn-01_2009.php) for a test ride, (because it was the only 'bike' they had that i hadn't ridden yet)

and this is what i thought...........

GOOD POINTS

realy low center of gravity
quite comfortable

BAD POINTS

fuck all pick-up
fuck all top end
way too low, you scrape the foot rests on the mildest of corners and all around town
too quiet

so, would i buy one???
HELL NO!!!

Yeah like Flynn said, Para Rubber, Pete at Auto Interiors (Matipo St), Scott at Manawatu Upholstery (Pahiatua St), or Trevor Palmer (Jasper Pl). Anyone of them should be able to help you out.

Well had some goodies for the bike turn up just now, pity it's in at AFC atm... Mind you I could always fit it to the other ZX14 they lent me to get home on, must say that "limited edition" paint job does look better out in the sun but it's still not my cuppa tea.
